First on the list is Ilha da Queimada Grande, Brazil (popularly known as Snake Island). This place is infested by snakes, particularly golden lancehead vipers, one of the world's deadliest snakes. It's no surprise that the Brazilian government banned visits. But, even without that restriction, this is unlikely to be a popular tourist destination because of the dense snake population. Some estimates claim that there is one snake per square meter of the island. Only researchers who know how to deal with snakes, accompanied by a doctor are allowed to enter.

The Doomsday Vault. A seed bank in Norway, in the center of the Svalbard archipelago, is a very important place for all of us as it secures a wide range of plant seeds to keep us prepared in case something really bad happens in our world’s vegetation. Big cartons of seeds are transported to the vault from every little corner of the globe for long-term storage. It is not open to the public, however, it does give special guests access on particular days.

A UNESCO World Heritage site called Lascaux Caves in France has been closed to visitors since 1963 as experts explained that human presence in the area may destroy its ancient work of art. Archaeologists from all over the world consider it a treasure trove. Prehistoric artwork dating back 17,300 years may be found in the cave complex. The Paleolithic paintings, which are stunningly beautiful, cling to the wall and represent animals such as cattle, stags, bison, and others.

If you are waiting for the North Sentinel Island in India then here it is. The home of the Sentinelese tribe who generally turn violent in order to preserve their isolation from the outside world. Through the Indian government's protection, this tribe has lived on the island for over 50,000 years and remains untouched by our civilization. To respect them, any visitor of any kind is strictly prohibited on this island.

With 85 kilometers of shelving, thirty-five thousand catalog volumes, and documents dating back over a thousand years, the Vatican's Secret Archives is a house of huge numbers of records relating to the Catholic Church. Though researchers with special access privileges can enter, there are restrictions on the types of papers they can see. Everybody is forbidden from entering. Papal account books, a letter from Michelangelo to Pope Julius II, a letter from Mary Queen of Scots written before her execution, and Martin Luther's ex-communication papers are among the items said to be inside.

Next is Area 51, a United States military base approximately 100 miles north of Las Vegas. It is not only a forbidden place, but it is also one of the world's most mysterious locations, as the US government denied its existence until 2013, and is recognized for its numerous UFO conspiracy theories. Its remote position makes it a good testing ground for the U.S Air Force and CIA.

Last but not least is the Heard Island Volcano. This place is politically part of Australia even though it lies between Antarctica and Madagascar. It's one of the world's most remote places because two active volcanoes lie here and it is utterly uninhabited. The entire island was formed by volcanic eruptions, which resulted in debris and limestone. It's also quite windy, fantastic for penguins, sea birds, and seals, but not so much for us.
