On the US federal level, all marijuana is still prohibited. According to the government, it has no medical value and has a high risk of abuse. However, recreational marijuana is legal in 18 states.
Which is worse, a peaceful drug addict or a violent non-addict?
States also support its legalization for another reason. The potential economic benefits. States with legalized marijuana have shown to bring in millions of gross sales. In that sense, economic activity in the pot industry would result in increased tax revenue, jobs, and investment opportunities.
