Introduction
Ocean boundaries are the limits of oceanic waters on Earth. The definition and number of oceans may vary depending on the criteria used. The main divisions of the five oceans were made by The International Hydrographic Organization in 1953: the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Southern Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean.

The world's oceans are an interconnected global body of saltwater, sometimes called a global ocean or world ocean. Smaller ocean regions are called seas, gulfs, bays, straits, and other terms. Geologically, an ocean is an area of oceanic crust covered with water.
Did you know that seas, gulfs, bays, and oceans are not the same? What ocean is nearest to your home?
The Pacific Ocean is the most profound and the most immense one. It has 63,800,000 square miles. It covers about 46% of Earth's water surface and about 32% of its total area, more significant than all Earth's land surface combined. On the west, you can find Asia, Australia, and America on the east. It extends from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Southern Ocean in the south.
Can you believe how big the Pacific ocean is? What do you think of the pacific ocean?
The Atlantic Ocean is the second biggest ocean and is known to separate the old world from the new world in the European perception. It covers 41,100,000 square miles and has an S-shaped form longitudinally between Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The Atlantic name is derived from Greek mythology and means the "Sea of Atlas."
Why is it called the new world? When was your country free from conquerors?
The Indian Ocean is the third largest ocean. It covers 27,240,000 square miles. Asia bounds it to the north, Africa to the west, Australia to the east, and the Southern Ocean or Antarctica to the south. The Indian Ocean is named after India because of its strategic position at the head of the sea since ancient times and its long coastline that is longer than any other country around the Indian Ocean.
What do you know about the Indian ocean? Is India a country you'd visit? Why?
The Arctic Ocean is the smallest and the shallowest ocean of the five. It has an area of 5,430,000 square miles, and because it is at the most north, it is the coldest of all the oceans. It includes the famous north pole region, which is bounded by North America, Europe, and Asia. It is mainly covered with sea ice throughout the year and almost entirely in winter. The polar bear lives in this region.
Would you like to visit the North Pole? Why or why not?
The Southern Ocean is the Antarctic Ocean, the second-smallest and youngest ocean. It covers the southernmost waters of the world and encircles Antarctica with an area of 7,849,456 square miles. The waters of the Southern Ocean are distinct from those of the surrounding oceans due to the Antarctic Current that rapidly rotates the waters of the Southern Ocean around Antarctica. The International Hydrographic Bureau used the current in its argument for recognizing the Southern Ocean. The penguins live mainly in this region.
Have you ever seen penguins in real life?
