Introduction
Global warming is when carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants accumulate in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight, and solar radiation is reflected from the Earth's surface. Usually, this radiation escapes into space, but these pollutants can stay in the atmosphere for years or even centuries, trapping heat and making the planet hotter. The contaminants that trap this heat, especially carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, water vapor, and synthetic fluorinated gasses, are greenhouse gases. Their effects are known as the greenhouse effect.

With the beginning of the industry in the 17th century, people began to emit more fossil fuels from burning coal, oil, and gas to power our cars, trucks, and factories. Driving an electronic or a "smart" car saves gas and money and helps prevent global warming.
What reasons would you change to an electric car?
The United States is home to only 4.4% of the world's population, yet it is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gasses. If everyone in the world burned fossil fuels and lived like people in the United States, it would take several planets like Earth to have enough resources.
What can we do to stop this situation?
One of the best-known effects of global warming is the melting ice and glaciers in the Arctic. In 1910, Glacier National Park in Montana, USA, was filled with about 150 glaciers. In 2017, scientists recounted them. They discovered that the number had dropped enormously to 26 glaciers.
Would you like to visit a glacier before they are all melted?
This melting ice will cause sea levels to rise and increasingly affect people that live in areas that depend on drinking water coming from melting glaciers.
Do you think of global warming sometimes? Why?
Leonardo DiCaprio is more than just a movie icon. Off the big screen, the actor is an ardent environmentalist who dedicates his time and resources to saving the planet.
Do you know any other actor or actress who cares about the planet? Who?
In "Don't Look Up," a comet big enough to destroy our planet rushes toward Earth, providing a metaphor for the climate crisis. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence play distraught scientists trying to convince politicians and the general public that Earth is coming to an end unless they do the right thing, but nobody listens.
