If you look closely, visiting a zoo is a one-of-a-kind experience. Many zoos across the globe draw a significant number of tourists while also providing a fun learning environment for children. They not only protect numerous animal species, but they also provide us opportunities to observe and learn more about animals' habitats, lifestyles, food, and so on. It's not difficult to fit a visit to the local zoo into your next vacation plan, but there's no assurance it'll be enjoyable. Today let’s share our ideas about zoos.

A zoo, also known as a zoological garden or a zoological park, is a place where a vast range of animals from all over the world are kept, cared for, bred in confinement and being presented to the public. This facility also plays an important role in the protection and prevention of the extinction of particular animals or endangered species.

Although mankind has been keeping animals for thousands of years, their collections have not always resembled modern zoos. The zoo's origins can be traced back to roughly 3,000 years ago in Ancient Egypt. Animals were collected to serve as status symbols for the wealthy such as kings and emperors. Zoos were private collections or so-called “menageries”, typically consisting of wild animals. Later on, they were eventually gathered for scientific research.

The Age of Enlightenment, in the 18th century, is the period in European history where science, reason, and logic were embraced as social and political principles. People began studying animals for scientific purposes particularly their behavior and anatomy. As a result of this, the model of the modern, public zoo became popular. Scientists and zookeepers had to keep animals in environments that were similar to or identical to their natural habitats.

You can visit a variety of zoos. For example, safari parks are larger and provide more area for the animals than regular zoos' tiny enclosures. Visitors are allowed to drive through these parks and get up close to the animals on exhibit. Typical animals you can see are elephants, monkeys, and huge cats, like lions and tigers. Another is petting zoos where you can pet, feed, and interact with animals that are mild, harmless, and pose little danger to people. Usually, domesticated animals such as sheep, goats, donkeys, rabbits, tortoises, and guinea pigs.

The San Diego Zoo is one of the most well-known zoos in the world. With over 4,000 animals representing over 800 species, they are actively involved in conservation and preservation activities and provide each animal an open-air exhibit with the goal of eventually releasing the creatures into native habitats when appropriate. The parkland covers about 40 hectares. Additionally, it is one of the few zoos in the world that house and breed endangered animals such as giant pandas.

Animals may still be abused and live in terrible conditions in some parts of the world and the fact that animals are kept in confined spaces and are not in their natural habitat, the question of whether keeping animals in zoos causes more harm than good is hotly debated. Still, they provide care and protection for animals in danger of losing their natural environment. They also provide veterinary care for their animals if they become ill or wounded.

Zoos, aquariums, and animal sanctuaries have had to close their doors, just like restaurants, clothing stores, and offices around the world, to avoid the spread of coronavirus. But zookeepers must continue to feed the animals and offer medical treatment and enrichment. And so they followed the footsteps of other businesses by relying on online technology to keep operations running. They broadcast animal activities live to viewers, share behind-the-scenes photos and videos, and raise funds online.
