Everyone loves the feeling of coming to a freshly cleaned home free of dirt and germs. A clean home eliminates stress, allergies, keeps pests away, and saves you from accumulating junk. Given that our professional life and other responsibilities keep us from doing things that also matter, taking care of our house should be a top priority for you and your family. Read on for what you need to know about keeping and maintaining a house clean.

Everyone contributes to the mess and clutter in a house, therefore cleaning should be a group responsibility. Kids can be masters of making excuses but parents are the most essential role model for kids and their attitudes help to set the tone and motivate cooperation. Chores teach youngsters the value of working as part of a team, and what they need to know about caring for themselves, a home, and a family.

To keep the household operating smoothly, a clear household chore list is key. Sweeping, vacuuming, washing dishes, cooking meals, and cleaning bathrooms should become daily habits. Washing bedding, mopping floors, mowing the grass, and washing the car are all weekly duties. While monthly tasks include cleaning windows, cleaning the refrigerator, and changing the air filters in the furnace or air conditioner.

Making your bed in the morning has been linked to increased productivity and overall wellness. That may seem insignificant, but it sets the tone for the rest of the day. The fact that it was your first task of the day and that you completed it motivates you to complete others. More habits to keep your bedroom clean include folding blankets and throws, storing clutter in designated areas, cleaning desks, and vacuuming the floor and rugs.

It's normal for a kitchen to be messy because it's the busiest place in the house. Unclean dishes are a way to spread germs around the house so it is a good idea to wash all of the dirty dishes and put them away as soon as you're done eating. Every time someone cooks or uses an area, it is better to take a moment to wipe them rather than waiting until the end of the day and dealing with things that have dried on the surface.

You can stay on top of the cleaning activities daily but making the entire house every day is quite difficult, a weekly cleaning routine eliminates overwhelm and clutter buildup. Though this may not work for some, some people like dedicating each day of the week to a specific room in the house. Mondays are for bedrooms, Tuesdays are for kitchen and dining, Wednesdays are for bathrooms, and so forth.

Before you call it a night, take a quick sweep around your most-used rooms. Toys, shoes, and blankets should be put away, and backpacks and bags should be ready for the next day. In the morning, you'll thank yourself.

Moreover, turning house chores into daily habits prevents them from accumulating over time and developing into a large problem. It's been said that $1 spent on home maintenance is equal to saving $100 in future cleaning and repairs. For example, doing laundry twice a week with small loads can help you avoid overloading the washing machine every Sunday morning and this saves on repairs.
