Emotional intelligence (or emotional quotient) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in healthy ways to manage stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, handle problems, and resolve conflict. You should take an EQ test, because even though EQ is something intangible and hard to tell how much you have, it’s been scientifically proven that you can take steps to improve it.

Tell mistakes you made in your life. How did you handle those situations?

One quality of an emotionally intelligent person is that they have empathy. They imagine how they would react in a similar situation and work hard to view things through the eyes of others rather than judging or labeling them. They tend to be curious about people because they care.

Tell about a time you had a conflict with someone. How did you resolve it?

Emotionally intelligent people have “thick skin” because they are self-assured, open-minded, and they know themselves very well so it's tough for someone to bully them. They also have less negative self-talk because they realize that most of our negative thoughts are simply that: thoughts. They listen to their thoughts, accept them for what they are and let them go. They break free from the negativity cycle of bad thoughts and bad actions, to adopt a more proactive and positive mindset. Social scientists have named this as having a “growth mindset.”

Are you a sensitive person? Are you more emotional or less emotional than other people? What makes you think so?

Here are some steps you can do to improve your EQ. Try utilizing active listening. It’s  an assertive style of communicating that empowers you to be more empathetic. When you use active listening you can respond positively to conflict rather than react violently to it. Stay calm during stressful situations and avoid making impulsive decisions that can lead to even bigger problems.

Which is more powerful between feelings of love and feelings of hate?

Improving your EQ abilities is critical to your professional success because many companies now test and interview for emotional intelligence. And the results are as important as technical skills in hiring a job candidate. In fact, companies with highly emotionally intelligent employees see a major boost in overall sales and productivity.

How do you handle stress?

Experts believe that emotional intelligence (EQ) is more important than intelligence level (IQ) alone in determining life success. If you continually practice emotionally intelligent behaviors they can become a habit. You'll soon find that you're responding to your surroundings with emotional intelligence without even realizing it and you’ll be getting the best results for you and the people around you!

Do you consider yourself as an emotionally intelligent person? Explain further.
