Today, pageants judge holistically with private interviews and public on-stage questions as a medium to judge contestants’ inner beauty, personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charity engagement. These events are not only for women, male pageants are becoming popular internationally too. Our session will revolve around the world of pageantry.

The most prestigious female pageants, according to several news and publications, are Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth. The 'Big Four,' as they are known, are widely covered and broadcast by the media.
Do you think beauty pageants contribute positively to society?
Miss Universe has the most Instagram followers among the four and is probably the most watched across the globe. In its 70th edition held at the Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel, Andrea Meza of Mexico crowned her successor Harnaaz Sandhu of India.
Is Miss Universe popular in your country? What do you think of male pageants?
Apart from long gowns and bikinis, the question and answer portion of beauty pageants is crucial in determining the winner. Certain judges also ask questions on social issues that test participants' spontaneity, belief, knowledge, and confidence.
What advice would you give teenagers on how to deal with the pressures they face today?
Men's beauty contests have existed for years, but they were usually bodybuilding competitions. But just to name a few, Manhunt International, Mister World, Mister International, Men Universe Model, Mister Global and Mister Supranational are some male pageants to look for.
What, according to you, is an ideal man or woman?
Male pageants do not receive the same amount of attention as female pageants, but we are changing norms. The Mister Global 2019, for example, has the motto "Inspiring Gentlemen" because men should also be role models who inspire and motivate others. They highlighted the participants' cultural backgrounds as well as their charity works.
Is life easier for women or men?
Pageants are also criticized. Losing in a pageant might affect self-esteem especially for young ones. High standards of beauty are unreasonable. It is okay to be self conscious and look for ways to improve appearance but the problem is when you get obsessed and engage in hazardous behaviors in trying to achieve other’s definition of beauty.
What is your opinion about cosmetic surgery? What do you think of people who want to change parts of their face / body?
